The Chamber of Deputies convened for an unscheduled meeting today. Business consisted of the following items.
President-Elect Pemberton was confirmed and officially assumed the office of President. Ayes: Deputy Jordan Brizendine, Lavrasia; Deputy Hannah Callahan, Neosho Nays: -- Passed 2-0 Proposal: At the request of Consul-Elect Callahan, the Chamber considered a request to change the title of "Consul" to "Prime Minister". Ayes: -- Nays: Deputy Jordan Brizendine, Lavrasia; Deputy Hannah Callahan, Neosho Failed 0-2 Following the recent amendments to the Judicial branch, it was discovered that two specific clerical revisions to the Constitution would be appropriate. These two sections outlined the appointment and confirmation of the Supreme Justice, and were found to be outdated. Deputy Brizendine also addressed the fact that penalties outlined in the Constitution did not match those found in the Criminal Code, and were in conflict with the Writ of Rights. Proposal: To remove the two sections addressing the appointment of the Supreme Justice, and to revise the list of penalties to reflect those found in the Criminal Code. Ayes: Deputy Jordan Brizendine, Lavrasia; Deputy Hannah Callahan, Neosho Nays: -- Passed 2-0 Proposal: The following bill was written by and presented to the Chamber by Consul-Elect Dylan Callahan. "Be it enacted by the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Republic of Delvera, the laws of Delvera shall be amended to allow for the following: 1. Each citizen shall be sent a bill for the amount of tax owed. 2. Payment shall be made either to the official Delveran PayPal account or to the respective provincial branch of the Confederal Bank or in the care of a designated individual who shall submit a signed receipt of the transaction to the Delveran Treasury. 3. Citizens shall be allowed to pay taxes in advance, and tax rates raised after such advance payment will not be retroactive on the advance."
