What is delvera?

The State of Delvera is a micronation on the North American continent. 

Delvera is a society based on friendship, progress and innovation.  Since 2013, Delvera has epitomized responsible governance, adherence to legal and ethical principles, and a strong sense of community.  Our society is one that strengthens its individual members as its base, rather than forcing citizens to stand on an uncertain foundation.  With each participating to the degree and in the manner most desired, the whole micronation benefits from a community of leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs and dilletantes. 

In December of 2021, Delvera became a constituent state of the Empire of Karnia-Ruthenia.

What is a Micronation?

There are many different micronations, with varying political worldviews and perspectives, diverse populations and unique characters.  Micronations are societies that are organized on a small scale and conduct themselves as sovereign entities — micro-nations.   All micronations have governments of some sort, a flag, and many other common amenities of nationhood.  Some micronations see themselves as secessionist movements, seeking an alternative to their “macronational”  citizenship, and declaring their claimed territory to be off-limits to their macronational counterparts.  On the other hand, some micronationalists see themselves as hobbyists, seeking legitimacy and recognition for their micronation while still having some “serious fun” with the many duties and responsibilities of maintaining statehood.

What's the draw?

Micronationalism in general is a growing concept, and even those who have been participating for decades often have very nuanced opinions and advice for those starting out.  A common question to be left largely unanswered is, “What’s the draw?” 

​We have innovated a free association of people who are free to discuss, build, produce and consume the fruits of their labors in celebration of themselves and others.  Delvera is a renaissance of creativity and a testimony to the grandeur found in the mundane, the nobility of the common, and the potential of every member of society to contribute in a mutually beneficial way.  Delvera has many aspects of average, everyday life, with opportunities for everyone to benefit.

We continue to grow, to innovate, and to more fully realize our potential as a micronation, and we welcome all who are willing to participate or even just observe in a positive way.  Our annual Delveran Heritage Festival held the second weekend in July is possibly our most vibrant expression of identity, with all our businesses, clubs and consumers of the best life has to offer coming together as one.
